Up in Flames
What is happening in this thread?
In the thread 'Up in Flames' the group is stuck in the barn during a severe thunderstorm. The forest is dry, due to a lack of rainfall prior to the storm, and the trees catch fire. Wildfire is the tragic result, rapidly closing in on the barn now holding the canines. Will everyone escape relatively unharmed?
Niyazi and Kajetan had assigned themselves the jobs as guardians of their companions that night; standing toward the outsides of the group on opposite ends. The two hadn't learned to get along, even after the former had officially joined the group.
The Anatolian shepherd stands toward the doors, ears as erect as they can be and tail raised over his hindquarters, crania lifted and gaze trained on the entrance. His nostrils flare, and he looks over at the older Leonberger just as the other barks out a short 'fire!'.
The single word causes both males to spring into action, barking loudly over the deafening thunder outside and nipping at the sides of their companions to wake them, or get them up if they're already awake.

Yuki jerks awake to nipping at her side faster thdnaps cat in ice water, growled and snapped at the two males. "Nantekotta i?" She asked irritated, ears pinned but stops when an all to familiar scent and her irritation turned to fear.

Rav shot up and snapped at the one nipping at her side. "Don't do that again." Rav said sighing. Rav saw the fire and started nudging the rest helping the two males wake them. Rav saw they were hard to wake up so she decided to howl to try to wake them up.

Just was the Ridgeback was having a seemingly peaceful rest her floppy eras perked forward, the loud sound of one's howls filling her ears and causing her lips to curl in a growl. It was indeed a rude awakening, but she soon came to realize what all the fuss was about. There was the faint smell of smoke filling her nostrils and soon enough she rose to her paws. Shaking off the straw that stuck to her she turned her blue gaze over towards the entrance, looking out at the landscape for a quick moment.
Her eyes then turn to the two seemingly most dominate males, pinning her ears slightly. "What are we going to do now? We don't know how far the flames go. What if we're surrounded?" Ronja didn't like fires not one bit, it only brought a few bad memories to her.

Niyazi’s attention snaps to the other canine, lip curled in frustration while Kajetan works to wake the others. The brindle canine stalks forward, gaze trained on Ronja. “And if it moves closer? Humans aren’t here to put out the flames, and there’s more thunder and lightning than rain. There is no water between us and the forest. If those flames close in fast enough, we’re dead. It’s better safe than sorry; wouldn’t you agree?”

Yuki glanced at Niyazi and Ronja. "Well do you at least have a plan then? Which direction, obviously not in the fire, would we go in? If it's still thundering and lightning the fire can suddenly spread in another direction." She asked trying to not show her fear but her voice did crack a little. The white female flinched slightly at the sound of the thunder overhead and glanced at the glowing orange, red and yellow, smoke filled sly nervously.

Rav growled as the lightning sounded. "Let's find a way out while the two of them try to wake the others up." Rav suggested as she looked around. "We can try to find little puddles from the rain to drink but for now let's get away from the fire as fast as we can." Rav added on as she looked up to the sky.

Yuki whined slightly. "I hope we can find some despite the lack of rain." She said, standing up and glancing at around the barn.

Dropping her large floppy ears, Ronja stole another glance outside. Seeing the dark smoke coming from within the forest and even seeing nearby birds flying away to safety. Smart little creatures. But she was now worried on what the group was going to do about all this. "So what are we going to do then? Is there somewhere else we can go?" She asked, turning her blue eyes back to the males who were mostly in charge of them all.

Alika lay in a patch of fresh moss hit by the mornings sunlight, enjoying the warming earth around her. She watched the group of dogs converse as she stretched out to sleep once more. The Shiba Inu didn't notice the threatening dark clouds that loomed above their heads until the sunlight that once beamed on her vanished. Alika quickly dipped her head and flattened herself to the ground, alarmed. "What's going on?" she squeaked

Kajetan moves quickly toward Alika when she speaks, head dipping to rasp his tongue assuringly between her ears. “It’s fine, don’t worry too much.”
Niyazi’s tongue lolls from his maw, ears flicking lazily in response to the voices surrounding him. “I’ve been noting the exits from the moment I set paw in this place for the first time; we can take the risk and leave from a window up top. Or we can go through a hole in one of the stalls; there’s a broken panel that we can nudge out of the way and squeeze through. That is, of course, assuming that the front doors aren’t blocked.”

Alika smiled when she saw Kajetan walking over. She absolutely adored how he always looked so strong. "Okay" she gave him a warm smile as soon as he finished speaking, "What were you discussing with the others? -- Oh oh! What are we doing today?" Her eyes shimmered with question and her head was tilted slightly. You could tell by her body language she was expecting a thorough answer.

Yuki turned to Kajetan and Niyazi when the two males spoke then back to the approaching inferno. "I'm not liking the idea of going through a window as long as its not high up." She said, the blazing fire somewhat reflecting in her eyes.

"We need to hurry up guys if you guys get any ideas, better do it." Raven said as she looked around. Raven walked around the groups and she growled lowly.

Niyazi motions with a jerk of his head for everyone to follow, turning quickly and trotting toward the loose panel he’d found during his first week. A forepaw raises, pawing at the plank until finally it moves aside, leaving an opening large enough for a small to medium sized canine. “Smaller dogs, go this way,” he orders, leaving no room for argument as he runs to the steps leading to the loft.
Kajetan lifts Alika by her scruff, jogging toward the new opening to ensure she gets out. He sets her down directly in front of the panel, nudging her forward gently with his nose. “Go on, little one. I’ll meet you outside, I’m too big to go through there.”

Rav walked behind the rest and kept an eye looking around. She lowly growled as she paced around near the group. She hated being trapped like this. She gets restless easily so she started to look around and try to see if she could catch scents of anything that might help them but she knows it was useless but she still wanted to try nonetheless.

Yuki paced back and forth, ears pinned and glancing to and from the approaching inferno. Finally having enough of waiting, she runs off to find another way out of the barn. Having no luck at first, she looks around again this time finding a hole in the wall and floorboard revealing a dirt patch. Smiling, she begins to dig making it big enough for her and the other larger canines. Once outside, Yuki walks off a little to check the area.
