Umi smiled after jumping a little at Droplet startling her since her back was turned “Oh alright then. Willow you’ll be okay right?” Willow nodded “Of course I will, and I’ll yell if I need anything.” She added the last part with a laugh. It ya d been a while since she felt such a good mood around her, Willow smiled her tassel swaying a bit. Umi nodded moving towards Droplet giving Willow a nod “Goodnight then old friend.” She smiled.

Umi looked to Droplet curious as to what he wanted to talk about “Sure that’s fine with me.” She smiled. The thought on Theo two sleeping next to one another didn’t make her insides feel like butterflies..well not as much anymore. Umi arched her brow wondering why he looked away briefly “Everything alright?”

Umi gave an uneasy smile, was Droplet hiding something from her? No he wouldn’t, but then again her senses were almost never wrong. Umi didn’t want to think about this for now as they had arrived at the den Willow spoke of. The golden dame chuckled at his remark entering the den first. Maybe the morning would shed some light on the brute’s odd behavior. “Well it isn’t bad for an abandoned den..” Umi tried to start up a new conversation.

Umi’s ice blue optics light up like stars as she lay next to Droplet “Blueberries.” She licked her maw, always having a weird craving for the fruit made her laugh aloud. Umi leaned under Droplet’s maw rubbing her head on his soft pelt as she spoke again this time softly “I’m really glad you came with me here Droplet, honestly, if you hadn’t I don’t think I would’ve ever seen what became of my old pack or even Willow.” The golden dame gave the brute a genuine smile as her striking blue optics met his gold ones when Umi looked up again.

Elsewhere Coal was just leaving another dame’s den when he decided to pop up to Willow’s. Good thing Willow was still awake and alert as she let out a small growl yet she was shaking “Don’t you come any closer..” The cream dame bared her fangs a little nervous. The black brute chuckled “Relax Willow, just stopping by to say hi to the kids.” Willow stepped in Coal’s way blocking the sleeping pups from his view “They will never speak to the likes of you, even when they’re able to MY pups won’t even know of your existence.” She dared herself to say tassel lashing. Coal rolled his bright green orbs his stance calm “Okay okay I get it. Suddenly your old friend comes to visit and you’re  bold now huh?” The black brute chuckled again as if to mock Willow, but he turned to leave but spoke more “Oh and one more thing, her name is Umi right? Vendetta sends her regards. Thanks for the trade.” Coal lept into the night without another word.

Willow went back to her pups but her grey orbs looked frantic what could Coal possibly be talking about? Did he ask Vendetta after all? What trade? Willow whined nervously as she lay down trying to sleep. Did she just get her only friend into trouble?

Umi blinked once, then twice, then again for extra measure. Did she hear him correctly? Did Droplet just say the L word!? Her mind was dancing around and screaming at the same time. Umi was speechless for a good minute before she gasped seeming to finally realize what she heard was true, and she felt the same. A furious blush covered her maw, but Umi didn’t care to hide it she thought she might cry, but tried to remain as calm as she could... this did not work. The golden dame’s tassel swayed violently as she was suddenly licking all over Droplet’s maw and face. Umi stopped to breathe and speak finally her voice cracking a little “I-I love you too Droplet.” Her voice was almost a harsh whisper in the brute’s audits as Umi felt she’d lost her voice. Her ice blue optics shimmered more than they ever had before as she was overcome with joy. He loved her, he really loved her, HER! Willow was right, this happened way sooner than Umi thought or even hoped. Umi settled back down still close to Droplet “I love you too, my cinnabon.” She gave a long lick from the base of his right audit to the tip, snuggling back into Droplet’s warm embrace, thick tassel now wrapped with his.

Umi’s tassel still swayed almost hitting her sides and Droplet’s. She giggled out of sheer pleasantry and she settled back down next to the brute. Umi chuckled nuzzling into his fur “I love you Droplet.” She curled her tassel around her paws and hummed feeling content and on top of the world. “Pfft berry hunting.” Umi licked Droplet’s nose back and she closed her eyes.

Umi’s audits twitched as she blinked her ice blue optics open and yawned awake licking her maw. The golden dame looked to Droplet with a chuckle as she stood and stretched “I heard that. And good morning.” She nuzzled against the golden-black brute, Umi’s eyes then met the berries, a whole assortment of them and smiled as she licked Droplet’s cheek “And what will you eat my love?” Umi asked playing it cool on the last part she added.

Umi let a blush slip across her maw “Beautiful huh? Then you must be just as handsome.” She smiled warmly. Umi dipped her head to eat to eat the assortment before her; blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries. The golden dame scooped up a mouth full humming in delight at the flavors that hit her tastebuds, her tassel thumped lightly on the den floor. Umi finished all the berries with a fine color stain around her mouth which she knew was there and she chuckled. “If you wouldn’t mind, I would love some more.” Umi asked Droplet as her eyes him.

However the new couples’ joyful time together that morning wasn’t to last as Coal the black brute made his way towards their den. He was waiting however for the right moment.

Umi licked the padding of her paws content, but was soon interrupted by someone unpleasant. Coal stepped into her den “Why hello there Umi.” The black brute offered a sly grin towards the golden dame. Umi stood up soon after growling as his company was unwelcome here “I don’t know how you learned of my name, but you’re not welcome or wanted here.” She spat out at him, yet he only chuckled “The names Coal since I’m sure you don’t know, and you can thank Willow for that.” He lied, Umi looked quizzical Willow wouldn’t give such information to this Coal wolf. Would she? Did he threaten Willow? “If you harmed a hair on her..” Umi’s growl developed into a snarl “You’ll be turned into soot, Coal.” She narrowed her ice blue optics at his evil looking bright green ones.

Again the black brute merely laughs “Oh please, like I’d want anything to do with her. You’re far more interesting..” he trailed of daring to move closer “Besides your male friend takes ownership of her now. Curtesy of Vendetta.” Umi seemed to pale as she looked shocked as things began to make sense “N-no you didn’t. You wouldn’t trade a dame what kind of value do you take us for!?” She gave another snarl lips peeled back showing her sharp canines. Coal smirked “You’re mine now.” He simply spoke before leaping at Umi.

The golden dame yelped as Coal landed just shy of her, but still close, so she bit down onto his scruff shaking him as much as she could since she was smaller than the brute. Coal growled swiping at Umi’s side with his claws causing her to yelp in pain and release his scruff. She glared daggers at Coal aiming for the paw that slashed her now bleeding side, Umi shook violently ripping the padding from his paw and Coal yowled in pain.

Down below Willow had just finished tending to her pups, when she head what sounded like a fight above her. Her grey eyes widened “Umi!” Willow gasped worried for her friend , but how could she help? Willow was too weak to fight. With an idea she made sure her pups were alright, then the cream coated dame dashed out of her den searching for the scent of Droplet she ran towards it, he was by the river attempting to fish. Willow skidded to a hault panting heavily near the golden-black brute she wheezed to speak “Droplet, y-you have to help U-umi, Coal attacking..” that was all Willow could get out before she panted some more lapping at the river’s cooling water then looked back to the brute pleading in her grey orbs.
