Droplet opened his eyes, letting out a growl. Wind blew in his face, screaming at him to get out. The pack along with himself hasn't had a good meal in what it seems like forever. As Winter rolls in, it brings horrid storms. Food was scarce. This was White Rivers first ever Famine. Would they survive, or slowly tear each other apart?

Reika shook the snow out of her grey and white coat then continued the rest of the way home, more snow gathering on her pelt. 'This isn't the best time to be raising pups.' She thought, tail flicking. 'Espcially with the lack of food.' At that thought, her belly growled but she ignored it in favor of getting home and out of the cold.
Eventually, Reika made it back to camp. Without much as a glance, she trots to her den and once inside, she shakes the snow off her pelt again, lays down on her side and begins to lick her paw pads in hope of warming them up.

Anik stalks back into the camp slowly, head dropped to the height of his shoulders and heterochromic oculars dull. His dark pelt is covered in snow, making nearly his entire figure white with apparent dark specks. He completely ignores the offer of assistance from his father, heading to a far corner of the densite to hide away from the others and warm himself up. He ignores the low rumbling of his practically empty stomach, looking angry after a failed attempt to find a meal.

"I swear to god." Droplet mumbled to himself, pushing to his paws. The golden-black males rib cage was almost visible, his stance didn't portray weakness, but his optics betrayed everything. "At this rate i'm going to eat grass" the sire boomed from inside his roomy den, trotting outside. This time, he decided to ignore the presence of his pack, rather he dug his claws into the soft earth angrily. Snow began to fall, once more.
"Nothing?" Droplet mused to Anik "Not even a squirrel?"

Anik looks up at the frustrated voice of his Alpha, ears pinned back against his crania in a rare show of submission. “I’ll go back out later to double check, make sure I looked everywhere. But with the snow, it was hard to find a scent.”

Krystal was trotting through the snow out on the hunting grounds looking for any sign of food. She parted her jaws open to find any scent that was prey but there was nothing. Krystal saw a flash of movement as a hawk swooped down to the ground aiming for a small mouse. Perfect! She turned and leaped for the large bird. Krystal was a second to late and hit the ground clumsily, but wasn't ready to give up. She looked up and jumped straight into the air and barely scratched the tip of the hawks wing but it didn't do much damage and the hawk flew off.

"I wasted a perfectly good catch!" she scolded herself. "Only if I could jump higher. She let out a long sigh. Krystal had been out for half the day along with Anik but he had gone back to camp to report to Droplet - their Alpha- that they couldn't find anything.

Not wanting to take the risk of getting scolded or lectured, Anik is on his paws again in an instant. He shakes the snow off of his pelt, sprinting off to where he’d last seen Krystal to rejoin her on the hunt.

Krystal padded on sniffing air to see if she could smell anything. She soon heard paws running behind her. Krystal turned around bristling but then realized it was Anik. She shook her ruffled fur a little embarrassed that she had gotten frightened. "Hello Anik. You know you didn't have to come back hunting. i could've managed on my own while you rested." Krystal said politely.

Vixen looked at her pups then she sighed. "Why don't you guys go find Yakone and see if he has stories to tell you while I go out and help the others hunt in the snow." Vixen said as she stood up outside her den. The pups nodded and ran off to find yakone. Vixen then padded in a direction to see if she find prey. With all the snow, she would be lucky to find a small bird.

He grunts in acknowledgment, lowering his white-furred muzzle to the ground and starting to move while sniffing to see if he can find any burrowed rodents or other creatures.
Yakone lays inside a den, licking at his paws to clean the snow from between his pads. His ears prick at the sound of approaching pawsteps, crania raising and turning to lock his gaze on the approaching pups.

Lucy and Blade ran into the den where Yakone was laying. "Yakone, can you tell us some of your stories since our mom wanted to help with the hunting?" Lucy asked as Blade caught up to her. They sat down and looked at Yakone smiling.
While with Vixen, she walked around in the forest to scout the whole area for prey. She found a small bird standing on a fallen branch. Vixen crawled closer once she was closer enough, she jumped and killed it. The bird itself was small but it was better then nothing.

“Of course,” he nods, raising his head so it doesn’t rest on his paws and he, as a result, falls asleep. “What do you pups want to hear about today?”

"Some stories about fighting." Blade suggested then Lucy suggested, "A story about other wolves you met." They looked at each other and then tackled each other arguing over what to hear from Yakone.

Yakone leans forward, picking up one of the pup’s by the scruff and moving it away from their sibling. “I can tell you both,” he chuckles, looking back down at them. “I’d had to fight quite a few wolves that I met.”

The pups then moved closer and sat down looking at Yakone listening to his story.
Vixen dropped the bird down at the densite and headed out again. There was barely even a scent of anything in the forest area where she was at so she walked to the lake area and decided to search there as well.

“Well,” he begins, clearing his throat so he won’t need to pause too much to do so. “One day many, many moons ago, when I was about your mother’s age—maybe older,— I ran into this small pack while I was patrolling my territory with Suluk; our older offspring were watching the new pups, so we weren’t too worried. They’d been looking to expand their territory, making a few small unpleasant suggestions and demands while trying to do so.” He takes a small pause, trying to remember how the story goes.
Anik darts forward as a thin hare catches his attention, a sharp snarl rolling from his throat. He ducks his head down immediately when he catches up to his panicked prey, gripping its throat firmly between his jaws.

Droplet let out a small growl. The male had neglected to soothe out his fur for weeks - it was as if he had just gotten out of a fight, beaten down to the core. "If you find anything edible, give it to the pups, then the elders." he said firmly, casting a thoughtful look over Yakone and the pups, continuing to speak. "Reika is the only acceptation, she must have her hunger needs filled up much more than any of us."

The pups listened to Yakone story as it got more interesting. They smiled as Yakone continued.
Vixen sighed as she search the lake area and found nothing, not even a scent of prey. Vixen went back to the densite and saw droplet speaking so she listened as she walked up to him.

Waltzing back into camp with the hare hanging limply in his jaws, Anik’s ears prick at the Alpha’s words. He nods, padding toward the pups and dropping the thin creature near them. “Food,” he speaks, turning and heading out to try and find more for the others without waiting for any response.
Yakone, looking up at his son as he enters then leaves, lets out a frustrated huff and nudges it closer to the pups. “Anik’s always had an attitude,” he muses, distracted from his story for the moment. “But if you ask me; I’m sure that’s just to hide the fact that he cares.”
