"Its fine." Krystal was distracted from focusing on the herbs Beech had gathered that the words sounded emotionless, but deep inside she was grateful that she had hurried so fast. Krystal started with chewing up the elder leaves into a paste like substance then spat out the goo onto were the sprain is. Then she wrapped the bindweed stems around her ankle applying the cobweb to hold everything in place. "Ok that should be good for a few days then I can take it off." Krystal let out a small grin at Beech, "Thank you," She said gratefully.

She nodded and sat down, turning her face into the wind, "Do you... want to talk?"

"Uh sure.. um.. do you live in a pack or are you a loner?" Krystal didn't know what to talk about so starting off with a question was what her... mother had taught her when starting a conversation.

"Pack," Beech replied. She shifted in place. "And you?"

"I join and leave packs all the time. I don't like to call myself a loner but I never fit into packs so I don't know where i belong." There was a hint of sadness in the last few words Krystal spoke, but she tried hard to make it seem like it wasn't bad.

Beech laughed. She quickly stifled it; Krystal hadn't made a joke. She signed something, then spoke slowly, "Sorry. It's just that I've never truly fit in anywhere. Hard to do when others don't understand sign."

"Sign language? I knew someone who used sign ." Memories started filling her mind as she remembered a wolf who only knew sign."But that was MANY seasons ago." Krystal had learned very little sign. all she could remember was 'hunt' and 'eat'. Suddenly something clicked in her mind. "Wait you know sign?! like you can't- i mean- couldn't talk?!"

"This is the first time I've talked in... two seasons," she replied with a slight nod, "I'm not sure how I'm talking right now."

"Well I guess you're talking pretty well for not talking in a long time." Krystal shrugged as if it was no big deal..., but when she started putting thought into it..., it was a big deal.

"I suppose. I haven't been separated from verbal language, so that must play a part. It's not a big deal," she shifted slightly.

Krystal heard a deep rumble coming from her belly and relized how hungry she was, "Oh you hear that! I think its time to eat." Krystal pushed herself to her paws and winced at the pain coming from her paw. She quickly layed back down hoping to ease the pain. "Well I guess no hunting for me."

Beech panicked. She hadn't killed anything since her previous pack except for a possum which had already been half dead. "Yeah," she said slowly. She stayed put.

"Will you hunt for me?" Krystal asked as her belly rumbled again. "Surely you're hungry too?"

"Yeah...sure," Beech said slowly. She paused for a beat before padding away from Krystal. She scented the air and walked towards the scent of a rabbit. She crouched down and watched as it nibbled away at the grass. She leapt and sprinted after it as it darted through the grass and dove into a burrow. She straightened up and hunted around for something she knew she could catch. A moment later she trotted back towards Krystal, a pair of frogs dangling from her jaws.

"Oh good job Beech!" Krystal congratulated the she-wolf. Krystal wished she could get up to grab the food, instead of being a useless lump of fur, but she couldn't because her paw still needed to be healed.

Beech dropped the frogs within Krystal's reach and sat down, wagging her tail once as an acknowledgement. She devoured one of the frogs and sat back.
