It was a warm day on the cusp of spring and summer. The sun was just starting to set over the horizon, and a cool breeze wound its way around the underbrush of the forest. Smatterings of conversations decorated the dusk as the wolves of White River wound down for the night. Four stones tumbled to the floor in front of Beech's den. It was the wolf's alarm system: four stones out of the possible 5 to indicate danger. A glance at the wolf's post revealed nothing but the leafy foliage that normally concealed her.
Dead, but if anyone wants to continue please ping me using @horselover (I no longer get notifs for when new posts happen on this thread)

Anik’s ears shoot up at the sound of rocks hitting the ground, head snapping to the side. His gaze trains on the four pebbles lying still, and he’s padding in the direction of Beech’s perch with a look of concern. “Beech?” He calls with a bark, anxiety clear in his tone, “what’s going on?” He wasn’t expecting any response from the damsel; verbally, at least. His ears were shoved forward, listening for any sign she may offer.

Reika's head perks up at the sound of rocks falling from watching her pups playing and turned to where the sound came from. It was coming from Beech's direction. Standing up, she heads over to Beech at her perch and seeing the four stones in front of her and Anik over there as well. "What's going on?" She asked, not expecting an answer from Beech, verbally mind.

The wind picked up for a second, whipping the leaves into faster action as if responding the the wolf's queries. No wolf stepped out of the bushes. No yellow eyes caught the glint of sunlight.

Anik was quick to respond to the unusual, even for Beech, lack of response. He quickly moves up to her perch, ears pricked alertly and hackles raised.

The area was filled with the scent of Beech, and the pressed down circle of grass where she had been sitting was still held an echo of warmth. The faint smell of a cougar weaved through the scent, but there was no blood or sign of struggle. Besides, they would have heard if the cougar was that close.

Becoming more concerned with the lack of repsonse from Beech, Reika looked around. "Anik, do you know what's going on?" She asked the darker male, her tone slightly weary. The silvery-white female took a quick glance to her pups to make sure they were still alright.

“Not a clue,” he mumbles, head lowering to sniff at the ground where Beech once stood. His tail lashes to and fro lazily, ears twitching in search of any sign of her or some kind of threat, his muzzle near the ground in case he comes across a scent.

With the lingering scent of cougar disappearing, Reika felt more relaxed but with Beech still missing things were a little concerning. "Can you quickly do a perimeter check? If you find something out of place come back." The silvery-white female asked him as she heads back to her previous spot while watching her pups playing.
