Watching the older female head back towards the den her ears remained flatten against her skull. For all the years of having to grow up by herself it started to feel like she wasn't anymore. That strong sense of just wanting to do things on her own without any sort of help was slowly fading the more she stayed with the pack, it was as if having their company and support was filling an empty space inside her. That space being something she never really had. Dare she say they all felt like a family, but in reality she had trouble on just what that meant. Turning her gaze down towards the plant she was given Keeva slowly bends down her head before hesitantly eating it. Swiping her tongue along her muzzle once it was gone. Breathing a long sigh she then lowered her small framework towards the snow, curling her body up into a ball. "Perhaps...she's right."

Tongue lolling from his maw and ears shoved forward to listen for any unsettling noises, Anik sets off to ensure the area is secure. He didn’t bother to let anyone know, as he’d be very unlikely to get lost with his nearly black coat contrasting the white ground, and he needed the time to calm himself down after spending so long around the others.
Yakone, wanting to get out of the snow due to his shivering frame, had moved into a location where he’d be less likely to get colder. It wasn’t inside the den, it was more of a little space he’d dig out in the roots of a nearby tree. He curls into a tight ball, occasionally licking at his fur to warm himself up some.

Umi lay deep in slumber snuggled up with Droplet, the last thing she heard was him softly telling her to “Sleep well.” The golden dame was in fact sleeping well, that is until a cold gust of wind blew into the already cold cave. Blinking awake Umi didn’t move on account of not wanting to stir her lover. But her ice blue optics did scan the area, for what she could see from her spot, it was getting dark outside.

After spending a few minutes of laying down Keeva thought it was time to get up and move around for a bit. Rising to her paws and giving her coat a good enough shake to rid of the snow that was collected on her back. With Reika knowing just how bad she was at the moment it was best to wander off, in her defense, just to avoid any unwanted conversations and such. She was most definitely not in the mood to deal with that, being told to take it easy or to not push herself. Sometimes Keeva felt as if they were treating her like some pup, but then again, ignoring them and such was just like pup behavior. Once she seemed ready to go it wasn't much longer until she began to pad off. Leaving the spot she was laying and entering the forest with perked ears. At the moment she was aiming to gain a meal, just something small like a hare or squirrel. With how low food was for the entire pack she really hasn't eaten much. At some points she'd even go a day or two without eating, just to let everyone else who seemed to deserve it more have their fill. Beside she really didn't mind. Everyone needed food, and with pups being here and all Keeva really didn't want to eat without knowing everyone was settled. As she walked deeper and aimlessly she would stop every now and then to dig around the area, hoping to find some sort of buried prey left behind. While in the process she'd even sneeze a bit, shaking her head before continuing her little task.

With the six pups having fallen asleep on top of each other, Reika licked each of them on their heads then stood up upon realizing how hungry she was. Nudging the pile of pups closer to each other, she had covered them in the fur that had gathered on her bed then making sure they would be warm enough, she took off, hopefully not waking up the others and headed over to the lake, glad that it wasn't frozen. Once there, she skimmed over the surface of the lake for any signs of fish. 'Splash' There! Cautiously, Reika crept up to the lake's edge. At the edge, she lightly tapped the water with a forepaw as if imitating an insect. From the corner of her right eye, she saw a fish approaching and eagerly licked her lips. With the fish close enough, she plundged into the freezing water, though it didn't bother her not as much as the bitter air, muzzle first and snatched the aquatic creature in her jaws on it's spine.
Reika stepped back out of the water, shook her coat and tossed the still strugling fish onto the snowy ground and spottting a dark four-legged figure in the distance. Narrowing her eyes, she realized that it was just Anik scouting the area thanks to his crooked tail being a dead giveaway. "Anik! Hey, come here for a sec!" She called out to him and then heading back to the lake's edge to repeat what she had done earlier.

Anik’s ears shoot up at the voice, and he quickly turns to the source. Recognizing the voice as Reika’s, he turns and heads around the water’s edge to approach. He looks on edge, ears twitching constantly and fur bristled. “Something wrong?” He calls once nearby, slowing his pace from a jog to a trot once he’s close enough to see what she’s doing.

Giving him a signal to wait, Reika then plunged into the water a second time and emerging with a second fish currently struggling away in her jaws. Tossing it to the side with the other and shaking the water off, she turned to Anik. "Nothing's wrong unless you count for me mistaking you for a stranger wolf had it not been for your tail." She chuckles, amused. "What made you go out this early in the morning?" Snorting quietly when she sees that he was kinda dripping water.

He looks unimpressed, shaking the water off after a moment before straightening up. “Well, I’m glad you saw my tail then.” He pauses before answering, thinking over his response. “Needed something to distract me, I guess,” he admits, “got tired of sitting around with the old wolf.”

Laughing a little at Anik's unimpressed look, Reika than moves one of the fishes over to him. She then lightly nips at one of his ears then jumps back, ggrinning mischeviously. "That was for when we were leaving an also at least eat something. Better have energy to fight if need be." She said then lays down in front of the other fish and starts eating it. "You know, your dad does seem to have this grandfatherly figure to him, Ani."

“I was wondering when you’d get me for that,” he chuckles, moving to lie down before dipping his head to start eating. “Well, he /has/ had a lot of pups,” he acknowledges, tail thumping lazily against the ground. “And those pups had pups. He’s got a good bit of experience with pups, but not older wolves. Treats older wolves like pups instead, and ends up acting like a grandfather all the time instead of packmate. He’s always been that way. It was worse when we were on our own.”

Reika "hms" in thought. "Probably would like a few of the older wolves back at my old home if any of them are still alive, huh Ani?" She said, cringing slightly from the taste of the fish scales. Has it been that long since she had fish? "I think they would like exchanging stories of their youth or travels." She glances out to the lake as the sun's rays illuminate it, the light also seeming to make her fur lighter than it was already, like pure white and making her eyes seem to glow like emeralds in the process.

He nods, lowering his gaze to keep himself from staring any longer than was normal — or not creepy. “I think he talks enough as it is,” he chuckles, focusing on eating again. “Having others around would make him talk all day.”

Reika blinks coming out of her daze then turning to Anik. "Oh really? I quite like hearing his stories." She said. "I honestly thought you'd like his company, eh Ani?" She giggles. Males really were dense when it came to trying to figure out somethin or revealing their feelings about a family member.

“I’ll never admit it,” he grins, peering up at her as he stops gnawing at the fish’s bones, now revealed since he’d peeled off and eaten much of the meat and a bit of the skin. “I lived through about a third of this stories, though.”

Reika wacked him upside the head playfully with her tail and said "denial," then laughed. "Sure you won't but one thing's for sure. More stories to add to those in your lifetime." She sat up and scratched at the collar. After a moment, she shivered slightly and licked at the bit of skin exposed on her leg.

He tilts his head back, snapping playfully at her tail before looking up at her when she starts scratching. “Everything good there, Reika?”

Reika paused in her actions, looking almost like a dear in headlights. "Hm? Oh! I'm fine. Just this collar is uncomfortable and I have to live with it for another year or two."

His head cocks to the side, confusion clear on his face. “Why do you have to keep it on for so long?”

Reika glanced at him than scratched at the collar again when she felt an itch under it again. "The humans. They made this thing to do so as to keep track of wolves they release if I remember Anoka telling me correctly." She answered then fished up the last bit of her fish.

“Is there any way to take it off?” He still looks confused, if not more so. “Or are you stuck with it?” He’d never had to deal with a collar like that, and was rather confused as to why she had to keep it on.
